One of the things that captured our hearts the very first time we waked onto this property was the beautiful Orara River. Over the years we have enjoyed swimming in the river, trying our hand at fishing, skimming rocks and just enjoying the cool air under the trees on a hot day.

We have seen turtles, small fish, platypus and other wildlife down there. The river trees and shrubs are also beautiful to look through. We have some special places like our magic washed forest and swimming hole.

The fallen trees make little islands form which add character to the river and it is an ever changing landscape due to the occasional flooding water that comes through.

Our intention is to fence off the river from cattle and reforest the riparian zone to a thickness of about 100m.

Orara River rises on the eastern slopes of the Dorrigo Plateau, Great Dividing Range, east of Dorrigo and west of Boambee, and flows in a meandering course generally north east north and north west, joined by six tributaries including Urumbilum River and Kangaroo River, before reaching its confluence with the Clarence River, southeast of Copmanhurst. The river descends 195 metres (640 ft) over its 156 kilometres (97 mi) course;[2] and flows through the Dorrigo National Park in its upper reaches.

Major communities along the river include Coramba, Nana Glen, Glenreagh, Coutts Crossing, Ramornie and Eatonville.
